Meet Sarah Fishbein

Fishbein has developed a proprietary technique that fuses stained glass and mosaic traditions, creating a visual language unique to her practice. Using thousands of hand-cut pieces of glass, signature black linework, vibrant color palettes, and custom-tinted grouts, she creates large-scale works that transform with changing light and challenge traditional perceptions of mosaic art.

Drawing inspiration from the visual language of 1950s and 60s romance comics, Fishbein reimagines nostalgic imagery through a contemporary lens. Her work explores themes of empowerment, identity, LGBTQ+ acceptance, vulnerability, and human connection, often flipping traditional power dynamics and celebrating voices that have historically been overlooked.
