Biography

Sarah Fishbein

Sarah Fishbein is a self-taught contemporary glass mosaic artist based in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Fishbein has developed a proprietary technique that fuses stained glass and mosaic traditions, creating a visual language unique to her practice. Using thousands of hand-cut pieces of glass, signature black linework, vibrant color palettes, and custom-tinted grouts, she creates large-scale works that transform with changing light and challenge traditional perceptions of mosaic art.

Drawing inspiration from the visual language of 1950s and 60s romance comics, Fishbein reimagines nostalgic imagery through a contemporary lens. Her work explores themes of empowerment, identity, LGBTQ+ acceptance, vulnerability, and human connection, often flipping traditional power dynamics and celebrating voices that have historically been overlooked.

Before pursuing art full-time, Fishbein spent more than two decades as a producer and storyteller in the entertainment and documentary industry, an experience that continues to influence the narrative quality of her work. Today, her mosaics are recognized for their bold graphic style, emotional storytelling, and innovative use of glass as a contemporary fine art medium.

Featured exhibitions and fairs include Art Miami/CONTEXT, The Other Art Fair, Affordable Art Fair New York, The Hamptons Fine Art Fair, and exhibitions in New York, Philadelphia, and Dubai, including installations at the Waldorf Astoria and W Hotel Dubai. Her work has been featured by CBS New York, displayed in Times Square, and highlighted in numerous publications including Art Market Magazine, Arts to Hearts Magazine, Visionary Arts Collective, Bold Journey, Canvas Rebel, Artist Talk Magazine, and Tri-City News.

At its core, Fishbein's work is about taking something hard and fragile—glass—and using it to tell deeply human stories. Through beauty, humor, and emotion, she invites viewers to see themselves reflected in every fractured piece, finding strength, connection, and possibility in what might otherwise appear broken.
