FAQs
How long does it take to make a mosaic?
The average length of time it takes to make a mosaic is 100-150 hours per work of art. Sometimes even longer depending on the complexity of the piece. The process starts with design then building the mosaic. Every single piece of glass is hand cut and placed by me in some way. I often use multiple colors to grout as well to make the mosaic POP!
How heavy are they?
The mosaics are 25-35 pounds. I use a lightweight foam and concrete backer board to offset the weight.
What kind of glass do you use?
I use a combination of stained glass, colored mirrored glass, glitter glass, foil lined colored glass and sometimes I use metal. All the glass comes from all over the world from specialized glass houses.
Can these be placed outdoors?
No these mosaics are designed for indoor use only. Some glass is not intended for long exposure direct sunlight as well as the frame and glue are made for indoor usage only.
How do I care for my mosaic?
Occasionally clean and dust your mosaic by using a microfiber cloth and a little glass cleaner. Gently clean the glass in a slow circular motion.
How do I hang one of these in my home?
They come with either a frame wire attached or a French cleat. If your piece has a frame wire use two 50lbs frame hooks that you find at a local hardware store. Place them 3-4 inches a part. If you have a French cleat on the cleat just needs to be screwed into the wall. Make sure to use a level.
What are the shipping costs?
Due to the fragility of the mosaics they need to be shipped very carefully by someone experienced with shipping works of art. I use reputable art shippers to do this. The cost will be passed on the art collector once the piece is weighed any assessed by the shipping company. These costs will be billed to the collector without any mark up.
Can I pick up the mosaic from the art studio?
Absolutely. Also any purchase in the NYC metro area we are happy to deliver at no cost.
