As I journey through life, I find myself less inclined to blend in with the crowd. Instead, I’m drawn to friendships with those who think differently, who have carved out their own unique paths. There’s something inspiring about surrounding yourself with people who dare to stand apart.
This is my first piece using actual romance comics from the 1960s. These comics often portrayed an idealized vision of society rooted in the early 1950s—one where women were depicted as doting housewives or endlessly searching for love in any shape or form. While I admire the artistic beauty of these vintage works, I’ve often wished for narratives that showcased stronger, more empowered women with deeper values. These comics seemed like the perfect foundation to reimagine and celebrate the idea of a woman boldly forging her own path.
At the center of this piece is our fearless diva—bold, diverse, and unapologetically stunning. She’s here to challenge the status quo and ask a simple yet powerful question: “Why fit in?”
